Like a kaleidoscope of dreams and boundless inspiration, "Joyful Objects, Yes!" emerges as a creative studio radiating originality and passion. Founded in 2021 by Joy Valdez, a talented Mexican designer from Merida, Yucatan, this design studio has become a benchmark in the world of sculptural and collectible furniture design.

With a focus on limited editions, "Joyful Objects, Yes!" takes pride in exploring unique and playful objects. Joy Valdez's visionary approach transcends the conventions of contemporary design, constantly pushing the boundaries of materials. She actively seeks out unconventional materials that allow her to shape groundbreaking pieces, going beyond traditional options like fiberglass. Embracing the versatility of chuspata and other innovative materials, Joy finds inspiration in these unconventional mediums, enabling her to experiment and fully express her artistic vision.

In an interview with Ademán, Joy shares her bold approach to materials: "I have no limits when it comes to materials. I prefer those that exude a distinctiveness in the pieces I create—completely different from the ones most people use. I seek out materials that offer a high degree of experimentation." This avant-garde attitude has led her to work with fiberglass, chuspata, and she is currently exploring the use of rattan, a woven fiber that allows her to achieve organic and distinctive shapes.

The name Joyful Objects, Yes! encapsulates the essence of the brand and reflects the passion and joy that Joy infuses into each creation. In her own words, Joy shares the process behind the name: "I wanted something that would identify me and wouldn't be too obvious. So, I decided to combine the words 'Joyful Objects, Yes!', the initials of which form the name 'Joy.' It not only represents my own name but also symbolizes the love and dedication I have for what I do."

Joyful Objects, Yes! is more than just a design studio; it is a testament to the talent and passion of Joy Valdez. It is a universe where joy meets originality, and design becomes an expression of creative freedom.

What is space vs place in design ?

joy valdez

The space is the one that the objects occupy, the place is the meaning that those spaces give us.
