Panorammma
In the midst of confinement, Maika Palazuelos (Monterrey, Mexico) found herself pondering the intersection of art and design. The result of her musings is Panorammma, a platform that inserts expressive domestic objects into our daily routines, creating a space for design exploration. Palazuelos refers to these objects as Trojan horses, delivering artistic discourse to the masses by reframing the mundane and disrupting our everyday narrative.
At the heart of Panorammma's designs are themes that speak to the human experience, including the alienation of everyday life, the expanding pathology of the concrete, and the role of abstraction in the social sphere. By exploring past visions of the future and creating the myth of memory, Panorammma builds on our personal experiences through new visual narratives. Users are encouraged to take an active role in their surroundings, interacting with the objects in meaningful ways.
Palazuelos's approach to design is dynamic, emphasizing the potential for serendipitous experiences. Through Panorammma, she blurs the lines between art and everyday objects, offering a glimpse into the transformative power of design. It's a testament to her innovative spirit and her ability to reimagine the way
we live and interact with the world around us.
INTERVIEWER
What does ‘perfect’ mean to you ?
Maika palazuelos
It is a term that can be malleable and surprising. My first answer would be (when thinking of ‘perfect’ in the context of my work) something is perfect, when it has come to take form just as I imagined it. Nonetheless objects have come to materialize in ways that may be more successful than what I first aimed for; consequently broadening my previously narrow vision of what could be called perfect.

How do you stay informed and why do you choose those sources ?
Maika palazuelos
I reference different sources depending on the type of information I am seeking. For design and art news I follow different social media accounts, go to as many exhibitions as I can and read regular publications like the E-Flux Journal and the Art Agenda.

What is guaranteed to bring you happiness ?
Maika palazuelos
When I’m very excited about an idea for a work, I can’t even sleep. It is a very particular rush, feeling myself lifted up.
